scrapbook page

I’ve recently started doing my scrapbooking pages about my Europe trip during my first year of study in UK. Ya.. it has been more than 10 years ago, now then when I look back into my magnetic album and found those photos badly treated, I straight away started my project with the papers that are available through the personal shopper kit that I’m subscribing to.

I didn’t put dates and names to the photos, thus it was a drag for me to find out the right dates that I’ve been traveling and also the right names for the right places. It is also through this that I found out more than what I know before on certain places. It even occured to me that I’ve been to Brussels in Belgium without realising it.. goodness! I also learn more by doing some search in the net about those places that I’ve been to. Fortunately I’ve been sending postcard to my sister during that trip, they help me to track down the time and the tour sequence.
Below are two pages that I’ve done yesterday right after work.

I didn’t use much embelishment on these pages and the red checks brads seems bulgy to me. I hope they won’t dent the other photo pages.

I’ve also hide a photo inside the wine label on my 2nd page. Basically that photo doesn’t have much to show, only the wine stand in the factory, thus I prefer to hide it away. The jornalling is something that I felt at that time, which I prefer not to be viewed by all.

I’ve also posted these up in scrapbook.com
I’ve another great news for myself, a friend is back from the US, bringing all my stuff that I’ve ordered online and got sent to him, he got me extra things too, just can’t wait to see them. Another great news is, my order from Brunei also got respond and am getting them next week, yay!! So many good news.

Long time..

I know.. it has been quite some times that I haven’t been updating my blog.. been so into my scrapbooking that I’ve totally forgotten about blogging. After I’ve received the scrapbooking kit from and online store, I’ve been burning mid-nite oil to do those pages that shown on the kit’s bulletin and I love it very much till I show almost everyone who came home, not many actually, but they are my brother who came back recently, my neaces, my sisters and my mom. Mom called it “kut tiu lao si” in hakka, it means my non-sense things, but after seeing my work she suggested me to scrap the family photo as well. My eldest sister even suggested me to open a small shop teaching people doing scrapbooking and also selling the materials, talk about teaching, I myself would like someone to teach me the proper way in doing scrapbooking.
Another sister of mine said “so, eventually they’ll all become scrap huh?” well.. that is the one sister that haven’t seen my work yet or she is just being jealous..hehe..

I’ve done it again

Yay!! I’ve done another scrapbook page last nite. On top of that, I’ve added the word SWEET on my previous page. That is after much tracing and cutting and gluing.. I hope the glue really stick the photos and wording there ‘cos it seems that it is not that strong.. or is it suppose to be like this? Someone please tell me. (I’m using a flu pen which turn blu when wet and clear off when dry, but it seems that it dry off very quickly.)

Here.. below are the pages that I’ve done last nite, still no journalling yet.. 😦

Final product

Yupe.. as it says, I’ve done my final product last night when the boys are out with my mom and sis. Hey, it was a relief for me knowing that it would be my best time to do my scrapbooking while they were away, without any disturbances and distraction, and I’ve got what.. 1 and a half hour? That would be enough to finished off the page. But I still hope to put wording on my page, wait till I got the alphabet sticker lar.. oh ya.. and the journalling too.. cos I don’t have the pen yet.

Finally …

Yes, finally I’ve started my real scrapbooking with the right kind of materials, but I’m already in a dilemma on whether I should put photo A here or there.. and if I should cut my card-stock, whether I should use the ribbon like this or that..

I guess you’ll be asking where did I get my srapbooking materials. Found it in a craft shop in Wisma Merdeka, on 2nd floor of the ‘new’ phase. But they don’t sell the album 😦

Before putting myself down in doing scrapbooking, I need to make sure that the boys are not disturbing, meaning they are either sleeping or not in the house with me. So last night wasn’t a good start, ‘cos I was too eager to start doing scrapbooking and I didn’t wait till they were sleeping, so these two brothers with their ever curious-selves were there demanding to look at this and that, touch this and that.. buoy.. I ended up shouting at them, so bad huh.. then finally they went to bed after much westling over the potty, the milk and their mommy.

So now I’ve two layout to decide on, which do you prefer? I will put more things on the page, like ribbons, cut out wordings..etc.
So, people, which do you prefer? or you’ve better idea, please let me know. Thanks a bunch.

New in scrapbooking

I’m overwhelm by the products that I can find over the net on scrapbooking. Found many sites that offer sales and even got membership which send you the kid everymonth with a cost. Check out the following sites:
ScrapGoods – You’ll need to register as a member before you can view their catalogue. It offers monthly kids with instruction to member with a fix price. As a member, you’ll be able to see some of the techniques that they teach which come together with the kid everymonth.
Collected Memories – This one doesn’t ship to Malaysia.. yet. Lots of products to choose from, you can build your own wish list. How nice if I’m staying in the US, then surely I’ll order from them, infact I did and now have to think of the most economical way to get it ship from California.
About scrapbooking – This site give you all the ideas in doing a great scrapbooking, it offers free layout, free die cut. All with pictures. I love this site for its information on scrapbooking.

Surprisingly, I only found one scrapbook company listed in the net which situated in Hong Kong central, “Memory Chest”. However I can’t get much out from their website, which is dissapointing.

As a newbie, I’ve just found out recently that we have scrapbooking magazines on the rack in our bookstore around town. This is really a good news to me, however after much reading about it, where can I start getting the materials around town? sad huh.. could anyone out there tell me if I should start selling this things in KK?

Scrapbooking

I’ve done all together 3 pages of scrapbooking but with all the wrong materials as I can’t find the right one here in KK. What I should have used are acid free paper, approved adhesive, pen.. etc.. well.. I thought to myself “heck to the right kind of material” and just started doing it with sketch papers, wrapping papers, glu stick, double-sided tape, technical pen and ribbons.. Only later that I found out it is important to use the right kind of material for preserving purposes.. else over time, my photos will be rotten due to the wrong type of things that I used.. well well.. let me just show you one of my pages that I’ve done.

This was done using photo of Mer having his haircut. I love this picture because he was all smiling and laughing, and was not a bit scared with the razor. He used to be scared of haircutting in salon, so I used to cut for him during his bath.

I used wrapping paper for the background, with some journalling on the side. The picture of bird and flowers are from a magazine, fortunately it wasn’t stick on to my precious photo as surely it is acidic.

Scrapbooking is fun and it is some sort of therapeautic ‘cos it let you settle down yourself, clear your thought and start creating your page layout, which then give emphasis on the subject of your pages/photo, which to me this help me to clam myself down whenever I start to get angry with my kids.

Gonna do more of it once I’ve got all my materials sent over from California or Perth, sure gonna have more fun then.
