Introducing Snap Shots from Snap.com

I just installed a nice little tool on this site called Snap Shots that enhances links with visual previews of the destination site, interactive excerpts of Wikipedia articles, MySpace profiles, IMDb profiles and Amazon products, display inline videos, RSS, MP3s, photos, stock charts and more.

Sometimes Snap Shots bring you the information you need, without your having to leave the site, while other times it lets you “look ahead,” before deciding if you want to follow a link or not.

Should you decide this is not for you, just click the Options icon in the upper right corner of the Snap Shot and opt-out.

The Secret

I’m trying to listen to an Audiobook while doing other things in my PC. It is actually part of my work, cataloguing audiobooks without having to write the review. This audiobook came into my list: The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. Normally I would just get the summary from the jacket or disc cover. But this time, out of curiosity I started to play it in my PC after reading about its summary. “.. In this audiobook you will discover The Secret … and you will learn how to have, do, or be anything you want. You will learn how to use The Secret in every single area of your life.” Now that caught my attention, I’ve been wondering what is it about. Well.. I’m half way into it now, not sure if I’ve catch all of it.
Photobucket
Here are some snapshots of what caught my ears are:
“You can change things around you by your thoughts
The power of gratitude stand above everything else, use it until it becomes a way of your life.
Think positively and you’ll get positive results. Focus on what you want like if you want to loose weight, focus on your perfect weight instead of “I need to loose weight”.
It is about frequency of thoughts. Maintain a good mood and happy thoughts, good things will come your way. Your visualization becomes real..
Start your day with good thoughts like I’m going to have good things happening to me today, or simply, I’m going to get a parking today, or there is always parking for me, I’m always lucky. And you will!
When you make believe, the result comes by.”

This audiobook claim that these people had used this method: Plato, Galileo, Beethoven, Edison, Carnegie and Einstein. Surprisingly this book is being catalogue under “Parapsychological and occult methods of achieving well-being, happiness, success” by the Library of Congress online catalogue. What? occult methods? I hope this is not denying the existence of God.

It is also available in Amazon with 1,968 reviews so far!! Its list price is US$23.95 but selling at US$14.37. When I look at some of the reviews, there are positive and negative ones.
Well, you’ll have to judge it by listening to it. To me, it does really help in getting myself a parking πŸ˜€

My grandpa

Grandpa is a person who tried out new things, who foresee things way before us all, even in the global issue. He loves reading, gardening, herbs and the politics. He tells great stories about WWII. One thing he told us that he never stop doing is reading. Maybe that’s why in his late 90s, he is still strong and has a clear mind. He is an adventurous person; he tried out herbal medicine himself. Doctors were surprise to see him when we brought him over, they just couldn’t believe their eyes that they are looking at a 99 year old standing there in front of them, with a well build body and in good posture some more. He is a man who loves God, who is witty and humorous. He past away on 30 August 2006, a day before our National Day. I was still in China with mom and my family. I took my unpaid leave to spend some times with my hubby and our two boys. Though we had expected it, but it was still a shock for us to learn that he has past away, in fact, peacefully. Thank God. He passed away at the age of 99. We had started to plan for his 100th birthday celebration the year after; unfortunately, God’s call is faster than we thought. Here is to my grandpa, i.e. Cal’s Great-grandpa.
Great-grandpa
This layout is by Susan Cobb of Hot off the press personal shopper. I used everything from the January kit of theirs. Thank you Susan.Journaling: “Great-grandpa who loves gardening and had maintain an nursery in front of the house. He did all the planting, watering and introducing his produce to whomever came to visit. This is a rare picture of him with Calvin at age 2. Calvin like usual, loves to join in the gardening part even though he’ll be beaten by the mosquito. This sort of photo will not ever be seen again ever since great-grandpa passed away.

No photo can be uploaded again

I’m so sad.. I’ve done some pages and yet I can’t show them here. My phone is not cooperating with me again. I’ve actually done a two page layout of Cal having his first flight to Sri Lanka years ago. I was even more worried than him. Afraid that he’ll cry all along the journey, disturbing other passengers on board, run away from my sight.. etc.. just like a normal mom would worried over their kids on a long distance journey, if you know what I mean.
However, despite all these worries that I had in mind, we went through the flight in a bliss.. well.. not totally a bliss, but at least he didn’t cry, at least he didn’t complaint about air pressure in his ear, at least we made it through and landed in Sri Lanka safely. oh.. you might be asking why Sri Lanka. Well.. simply because hubby used to work there before and we went over to visit him.

As for last night, I’ve started scrap lift a layout from scrapbook.etc on paper piercing, will use this for the Itty Bitty Scrap Shack challenge for “Love of my life”. I wanted so much to show them here, a preview maybe.. just too bad.. I hope the crazy phone is back to normal working mode again for me to upload my photo. I really need a new digicam.

Good news is, by Friday, I’ll have the digicam with me again… yay!!

Have to run twice

My mistakes really.. I need to go back to the same place again today just because I thought they said they can get the specs ready by yesterday. To my mom, it is a matter of life and death (not really :D) situation since she is cleaning up the house for Chinese New Year, she needed her glasses badly. What happened was that since she went to the farm often and sweat a lot, her glasses actually look like being sand ‘cos she rub them using her clothes! Can you imagine that? With the sweat that she has and the dust that stick to her shirt and yet she is using that to rub on her glasses, tyring to make it clear again? Oh well.. it didn’t make it clearer but the other way round. Another thing is that since she wear her glasses to the farm, the sweat basically ruin the glasses faster than anyone of us who sits in the office with air-con. I’m not saying that you can rub your glasses with any clothes, that would really damage it. So her old glasses really in a bad condition, that’s why she is getting a new one.
When I step in to the store.. I was eyeing for promotion or those with a reasonable price but I don’t think it can be compared to this.. Zenni Optical: Sell Rx Glasses $8 with case! That is like RM26 for a pair of glasses! Even if it is only the frame, it would worth it already, where can you get in Kota Kinabalu?
The thing is, this Zenni optical provide or sell only their own manufactured frames directly to the customer! Which means they don’t have middlemen. How great it that!? That’s why the price is so low.
Well, anyway, I only found out today about Zenni and my mom already got her glasses proscribed on last Saturday. But she specifically stated that she doesn’t want plastic frame cos she is afraid that they would touched on her chin and she’ll be irritated by that. Something like this one: (I like this one actully.. ‘cos I have glassed like this before :D)

Come to think of it, I don’t think I have a photo that my mom is wearing her glasses ‘cos she only does that when she is reading or really needed to see things clearly like watching her 6 o’clock Taiwanese series.
So scrap my mom in her glasses will be another project for me πŸ˜€

New opportunity

Well.. since I’m still consider myself a newbie in scrapbooking, I consider myself a newbie in blogging too, especially when coming down to talk about earning by blogging. I have no clue at all when I first started this blog. It was just out of fun and also to use it as a tool to remind myself about my daily life with my kids and hoping to improve as a mother, you know the kind that is loving enough not to spank them πŸ˜€ but I guess I’ll still need to work on that.
Talking about earning by blogging, I just recently signed up with payperpost after finding it out from a an ex-colleague who had been very helpful in guiding me.

I’m already start dreaming on what will I do with all the money that I earn!! Yupe.. day dreaming now.. let me see.. first.. I’ll get myself more scrapbooking things of course!! Secondly.. will get myself a spa or massage treatment .. well the list can go on.
Let’s talk about what I want to get for my scrapbooking. What I’m lacking now is more papers, include cardstock and pattern papers, next is album, the next are the tools in cutting such as oval shape, paper puncher, paper trimmer, again the list can go on..

I’m already telling friends and family about blogging same like I’m telling them about scrapbooking and the fun that I’m having. I’m getting my niece to be interested in blogging just so that it can help her out in her study, ya.. study.. I mean, if she can earn by blogging, this would help her out in paying her school fees and in a way will improve her writing skills. At the same time, asking her help to introduce my site to her friends.
So, folks, get into the mood of scrapping and also blogging!

Rottan or not?

I subscribe to baby center ever since my 1st pregnancy, until now I still get their newsletter updated and reminded me on how old my kids are, how they would behave and how I can discipline them. It helps especially on my first child as I don’t know what to expect as a preggy and a soon mother-to-be, so it is nice to get their insights of things about my pregnancy and what help I would be needed.
Now since my kids are no longer fetus inside me and babies, I get news about their growing up years and I got this recently about my 29th months old: “Children this age love projects, but their interests run more toward creating than cleaning up. Try one of these tricks: If he’s done with a puzzle, help him break the pieces up as part of the game. Or if he’s in training to be the next Monet, show him that putting his crayons back in the art box is part of being an artist. And don’t forget to praise his efforts at being tidy β€” a little positive reinforcement goes a long way.”
A good tips huh.. come to think of it, I didn’t try that out.. but instead I use “rattan” to threaten them and I got result fast, it is always useful and effective especially if I’m in a hurry or no mood to “play along” with them. But then I’m not sure if I’ve put a negative influence on them, like telling them spanking is right when you want people to listen to you, or in their case, it might be hitting is right when you want to get result.
I suppose I do really need to think twice before getting out my “rattan” next time… ya.. i know it is hard not to use the easy way..

More Christmas cards

I’ve made 4 more Christmas cards in two different designs but almost the same with the previous ones. Again, I used the dry embossed snowman, plus a dry embossed star. Feel abit reluctant to give them away, but a gift is a gift, it is something that you would love the other person to have.

Merry Christmas!

Christmas cards

Everyone is using digital Christmas card now-a-day, so I only got 3 real card this year, maybe more is coming, but am not so hopeful for that. So I’ve made 3 cards to give them back. At the same time I’ve received my month kit from Paperwishes Personal Shopper, so I’ve made full use of the kit and made 2 extra cards other than the one that they showed in their kit.

The most part that I love doing is the snowman. I’m suppose to use the brad buddies snowman for the card but instead I use white card stock, trace, cut and emboss the snowman, then put eyelets as the buttons. I love how it ends up and am thinking to make more.
