Sisters LO

I’ve managed to do a layout without using brads on those embellishment that needed brads to secure them, like flowers. I used jewel / pearl stickers instead. And well.. I think my layout is not boring (I hope).
Here is a layout done for the friendship that me and my eldest sister share with a friend of ours having the same surname with us. She is like a sister to us.

Scallop light blue pattern pattern is from Scrap-n-crop Earth Day kit (this is just nice for the silver dress of my friend). Red polka-dot pattern paper is from American Craft. Flowers from Prima and HOTP (they bring out the colour of the red shirt), letter stickers from Basic Grey.
I really love scallop paper ever since I used it in “Style” layout.

p/s: I think I better stop taking photos at night right after I finished my layout, they always look dark and dull.

Tutorial with a challenge

Am joining Coconut Showdown challenge #1 (from Coconut ScrapShop). Challenge #1 is to learn a tutorial about making your own pattern paper by using grid and stamping. For this I’ve used the bronze cardstock that came together in their May’s kit, stamp it with white ink and draw the grid line with white ink pen. Fun!

Journal:
“This morning, you refused to get changed for school. You got grumpy. As what you usually do, you started to jump, run and cry when you are grumpy. I wish you could stop doing that. 28.03.2008”

What I’ve used: MM bronze mini round brads, Q&Co. violet heart brads, HOTP swirl border clear stamp, American Craft letter thickers, flowers and leave stamps from Hero Arts.

Bonding LO

Did another LO by using Coconut ScrapShop May’s kit and taking up the June challenge in ScrappinKids.

ScrappinKids’ challenge “is to scrap about that bond between the lil ones and their fathers. Create a Layout featuring a photo that shows BonDinG between them. Do include and share with us your precious and heartfelt journalling as well!”

Journal:
“Fui seldom has time with the boys since he is working in Shenzhen, China.
Moments like these are precious to me, to see them bond, have fun and be rough together.
The boys are both afraid and adore him.
Afraid as he is strick.
Adore as he is fun to play.
June 2008″

I’m a stinky on my materials I suppose, ‘cos I’ve used everything including left over of border for tag die-cut and cut out frame. I’ve used the tag frame (left over from Style LO) and glue it on white cardstock for jornal. Another thing is I didn’t use thread for the button but instead I cut a thin strip of paper and use it as thread. The orange strip is also a left over from TLG layout.

Since the flower die-cut doesn’t really stand out by its own, so I’ve stick it up on white cardstock so that he stands out on the red pattern paper.

I’ve finally finished using all the buttons and wooden swirl from the Coconut ScrapShop May’s kit. Still have some left over and surely will gonna use them soon.

LO for myself!

Yes! It was hard for me to do a page for myself, I mean with my own photo there.. ‘cos I don’t know what to write.

It just came to me after reading somewhere about some inspirational quote “All I can do is be me, whoever that is – Bob Dylan”

It just hit me and “Wow, I can use this!”
There.

Sorry for the blur LO, it is just the way I took it.

This, I get to use some photos that I seldom got the chances to use. And I’m glad to let Val (from scrap-n-crop) know that I’ve finally use the pattern paper from the Chinese New Year kit which I bought months ago.

fun in Nexus

Yup, finally done with the sketch challenge in SoCalScrap and have uploaded the layout in their gallery. This is for a post that I’ve written about here (story at lower part of the post).

Jornal:
The kids had so much fun playing in the beach till sunset or was it the rain that stopped us?
Playing with sand, working together to building sand castle, sitting there to wait for the wave or running away from it, posing for camera and holding on to papa.
There were a big bunch of us: 5 adults with 7 children! Those were there: Rebecca, Chiam, Ruchelle, Roderick and Roydan; Evelyn, Leon, Alisha and Alison; Fon Mee, Calvin and Mervin.
Nexus Karambunai, 1 Jun 2008

I’ve used materials form Coconut ScrapShop May’s kit, plus Jenni Bowling journal tag, and Maya Road swirl stamp, and Paperwishes cardstock.

More for sketch challenge

Did another two layouts and turn them into a 2 page spread. I’ve talked about these photos here.

I’m glad that I have sketches to follow and challenge to join so that I can limit myself and do my layout. I was cracking my head to find the right paper which is enough to spread out for both pages. I ended up using different colour cardstock for the background (they are almost the same)

Journal: A 3 days business trip to Semporna gave me the opportunity to see lots of beautiful things; sea view from Seafest Hotel, the beautiful sunset, the world class diving site – Sipadan, resorts of Kapalai, Mabul and offshore hotel.Holding the new born sea-turtle is unforgetable. Definitely a trip to remember.21-25 May 2008.

I’ve used Paperwishes’ kit, Basic Grey letter stickers, Prima flowers and MM flower brads.

Sketch Challenge in SoCalScrap

Yup, done one layout for the challenge and I’ve posted it in their forum, wanna keep a record here to, so here goes:

Am using TLG after watching Narnia (DLF for Dear Little Friend), so I thought of using initials for my title. So, TLG means This Little Guy.

I’ve used 3 different photos from 3 different time and while little Mer is doing different things too. The slinted one is actually cying after a tantrum ‘cos I didn’t get his favourite food – Donut.

Jornal (hidden behind the photo):
This Little Guy
Cheeky most of the time; talkative when provoke; grumpy when sleepy or need attention; cuddlely when in good mood especially right before bedtime and seeing his 外婆; love to bye-bye whenever anyone is leaving the house; got a sweet mouth to greet anyone; jump, run and thraw things when angry; a brat who cling to mommy or 外婆. Definitely 外婆’s favourite little guy.

Jun 2008

外婆; means grandma from mother’s side.

SoCalScrap

Have been surfing around to look for challenges and new sketches and goodies! Yes! Goodies! Maybe a RAK (random act of kindness) somewhere and have bump into SoCalScrap again. Guess what I’ve found? A sketch challenge which they provide the sketches and all you need to do is to finish it by 10th June, ya.. maybe it is a bit late for me, but hey, I’ve just got some photos processed from my trip to Nexus. I’m sure gonna join their sketch challenge.

Another layout from Coconut ScrapShop May’s Kit

I’m just so happy that I was able to use yet another sketch provided from Coconut ScrapShop May’s kit. It is easy to follow the sketch, all I need to keep in mind is that I’ll not use any flower for my boy’s page and try to use as many things as possible from the kit. What’s my own is the yellow and brown cardstock.
Have inked the grungeboard embelishment of swirl, heard shape and the alphabets.

There, a simple layout and yet I love to see it.

Jornal: Cal discovered Mickey first and straight requested to take picture with Mickey.
The think is he went straight to the hat and made it look like he is wearing it.
– 30 Dec 2007 Hollywood Hotel, Hong Kong Disneyland.

LOs, tags and cards

Have had fun using the coconut scrap May kit. Now, after discovering how easy to use the grugeboard, I fell in love with it, especially the alpha, they are just so easy to ink and adhere with liquid glue. The size is just nice for my layout too. Another thing that I enjoyed using is the round scallop pattern paper and the beautiful swirl.

First LO is a scraplift (*or inspired by) from Grace’s Beyong Beauty.

It is just so nice that the orange cardstock is in the same colour with Mer’s shirt. I’ve double mat the photo with light blue pattern paper then orange cardstock (sneak from behind the round scallop pp *wink*). I chose the stripped PP instead of the red flower (seen from Grace’s LO) ‘cos I think it is more suitable for a boy’s LO. Have lightly ink the grugeboard letters and adhered as the title. Journal on the tag provided in the kit, then lastly adhere the ribbon (do you call that ribbon?) and buttons. Wuola!
Before this layout, I’d had fun using the grugeboard letter by just inking them in red ink. The layout is from Prima’s June sketch and I’ve used McD’s tag line – “I’m loving it”.

I’ve used a bright colour cardstock which matches McD’s shirt, and red buttons matches with his hair. I fill some of the white area underneath the photo with a border stamp using red ink.

Coming back to the Coconut scrap May kit, I’ve done another page by using the materials and one of the sketches provided in the kit.

The ribbon is just nice to bring out the colour of Cal’s hat and the green cardstock is just nice for the greens in the photo. As for the buttons and stars, they just balance out. The first circle is a coaster from S.E.I Granny’s Kitchen which I’ve painted with white acrylic paint. The other two circles are being traces on the PP and journal.

Love the luscious green and orange cardstock they included in the kit. I have had fun using the kit, thanks Jen.

As for the charity move in Scrap-inspire-crop, I’ve made 2 more tags and 2 cards. Gonna need to send them out today.

Upper two were tags.
