Unique feature of my son

Mer has dimple on his side and it is always visible on one side, the other side seem lost somewhere when he gets older. I used this as the topic for my scrap to join in the fun in Scrappinkids challenge for April – Unik April.

It is hard to get him in photo which shows his dimple, so eventhough this one shows that he got scar on his face, I still use it for this LO. This was taken when he was enjoying his blueberry donut. It is not a perfect picture ‘cos I captured someone’s legs on the side which I then covered up with the chipboard from Heidi Swapp and tag line from HOTP. PP are from American Craft and HOTP. Heart shape brad from Queen & Co.

Jornal: “Look at those dimple, it is just uniquely you.”

TFL and happy scrapping!

Rare visit LO

I just love this LO that I did, it is so colourful on a black background. All those citrus colour just pop up.
This is a layout about a rare visit by my cousin who are so caught up with work that both of them seldom be able to go out together on Sunday.

I’ve used Bazzill basic blackbird, PP and flower template (to do the two flowers) by HOTP March kit. Letter stickers from my inspiration brought back by a friend from Australia.

Happy scrapping!

Sunny Day in Hollywood Hotel

We had a great time staying in Hollywood Hotel near to Disneyland Hong Kong last year. (I’ve blog about this here.) Thank God that we had a sunny day on our second day stay. Here is a LO that I just did last night. A page that I’ve used maybe too many photos.
I’ve sand the edges of those smaller photos hoping that they don’t pop out that much compare to the 2 main photos. I’ve also use photo corner as arrow (got this idea somewhere from scrapbook magazine).
I’ve used: PP, ribbon and letter stamp from HOTP, embellishment from Me & my big idea, photo corners from Heidi.

New stuff

Though I would share what I’ve got in my mail box today – April Kit from Paperwishes Personal Shopper! Yay! More to play with. It is exciting still to get their monthly kit, this time I can play with a sarabinder, just that I’m not sure what to put it with, maybe things that the boys love to do?

However, I’m stopping it from now on, so there would be no more monthly kit for me from now on. I just thought I need to try some other companies’ product like Making Memories, Prima, Jenni Bowlin and many more that are offering monthly kit, let me just do more surfing on this first before I decide. Oh ya.. if you are wondering how to choose a monthly kit club, try reading this article (in pdf.) from Creating Keepsakes.
Oh and Scrap-N-Crop is showing what they’ll have in store soon, check it out here.
Happy scrapping!

Not being productive

I know.. I haven’t have this creative idea going on in my head, so I haven’t been productive this week. There are photos for me to scrap about, stories for me to tell. But I just couldn’t put my creative hat on and start doing new LO.
I’ve a good news actually, I’ve been selected as one of the Design Team for Scarp-N-Crop (Yes, I am the one with the name Fon Mee in her blog). I’m glad that I’m not starting so soon. Val, the owner actually put me forward to start on May next year, thanks Val.
Yup, don’t forget to subscribe to their newsletter (blog) for the latest news and wish me luck that my creative hat will always on when I eventually become their DT next year.

Craft time LO

I’ve just did a page about the boys helping out doing my 1st altered project and also using my newly arrived stamp set. I’ve used the stamp on the word “TIME” and the quotation mark on the journaling.

Journal: “both of you wanted to have a go in helping mommy paint 3 photo frames. Mommy ended up running away from Mer ‘cos he doesn’t want to stop.”

Alphabet from Basic Grey and PP from HOTP. I’ve used stamps from Hero Arts too.

Happy scrapping!

Stamp set from PW

I was so happy yesterday that I finally received my first set of stamp from Paperwishes Personal hopper “Stamps Only Club”.

Got my free gift as well, a 2″ x 6″ clear block.

This time they are sending out “Artsy ABC’s” together with a leftlet telling me how to use them, isn’t it great?

I just can’t wait to use them in my LO, so I’ve tried it out on scrap paper just to see how they are. Unfortunately there is one letter that has been crushed maybe by the block which is packed together through the mail :o(
To make it worse, among the 3 “N”, that is the one that I like most. [double :o( ]

I’m going to write to them and see if it is possible to change it, I’m not asking for more, I just need the N, a perfect N.
So, Paulette, if you are reading this, please please please, could I have a perfect “N”..

1st altered project

Just wanna show the first altered project that I did over the weekend. These photo frames had been sitting in our living room for ages ever since Cal was just over 1 year old, bought by my sis from IKEA. She thought they were cute and handy, most importantly they are cheap. I personally don’t like them due to the texture of the wood and it came with real glass.

I was clearing the table on Sunday and thought, hey, why not I paint them and maybe put something on the frame. So I did! I started off by painting them with my white acrylic paint. Got some help from my two boys. Let them dry and then decide what to do with them. I tried to stamp on them but it doesn’t look that nice, probably I haven’t got the right ink. So I’ve decided to use brads instead.

First, I mark on the frame where I wanted to put my brads with pencil, then nailing holes on the marked area so that I can insert the brads in. I nailed the nail 1/3 into the frame and pulled it out again.

After inserting the brad that I like, I then nail it but not straight on it, I use a wooden ruler as protector, then nail it down so that it is nicely secure on the frame.

Do it to all the rest of the brads and I get:

I don’t like the effect of stamp on these frames, but just too lazy to redo them again. Maybe next time I’ll repaint them and put some other kind of brads there.
Most brads are from Making Memories. Stamp from Hero Arts. Both can get from 2Peas.

Thanks for looking

R is for reading

Yay! I did managed to do a page last night after the boys have asleep. It was a cool night last night after the rain, made it super comfortable to be in the scrap room without having the fan on.
I’ve struggled to use pattern papers and cardstock, to split the pages into 2 and 1. I ended up taken out some pattern paper that I wanted to use, start comparing them by laying my photos on them. I started with one page layout in mind, having thoughts of using certain things in my layout, then I changed my mind, then I changed back again and stick to the initial plan.

Things that I wanted to include on the page are a coaster from Nanny’s kitchen (SEI), the small photo of books and four pictures of my boys. This is a page about their love in reading. These are photos from two different time, one is on board to Hong Kong and the others were in a bookshop in Central Hong Kong.
I haven’t own any circle punch yet, so I’ve to cut the circles and also cut out the circle shape from the photos to make the effect shown on the layout, fun fun fun!

I’ve used: SEI From Granny’s kitchen coaster, Blackbird 12×12 Cardstock Pack (bazzill), photo turns from Basic Grey Matchbook kit, ribbon from Paperwishes March kit.

Thanks for looking.

Evidence

I’ve found several photos showing my boys reading. Yup! They loves to read, they love it especially if Mommy is reading to them. They’ll request more after one book before bed. They go into a book shop and demanded to buy books, once they were there, they’ll drag my hand over to those shelves that displaying their favourite books, in most cases, “Thomas & Friends”. So I’m going to do scrapbook pages about this and I wanted to include a pictures of books somewhere in the page. So I snap a few last night then decided to just use one and I had it developed to small size (3.5″ x 2.5″). They call it 2up of 3R over here. It turns out very cute indeed.

Let’s see how I can do that page tonight. A page about reading and maybe another page about their love for Thomas & Friends.

Oh.. another one is for their love of Donut, especially little Mer.

Yesterday after getting him from babysitter, the first thing he said was:

Mommy.. the rain has stop
Me: Ya…? (suspecting something is in his mind)
Mer: Go to City Mall, buy donut (with a big grin)

Infact it was even raining, just because my reason last time for not going is it was raining. So he does love donut huh!?
So we did stoped by City Mall and he ate two without finishing them la.. he just make sure that he ate all the stuffing of blueberry in the middle.
I started to collect more evidence about donut right after the box is empty. How? By cutting out the label on the box! Yay!
