fun in Nexus

Yup, finally done with the sketch challenge in SoCalScrap and have uploaded the layout in their gallery. This is for a post that I’ve written about here (story at lower part of the post).

Jornal:
The kids had so much fun playing in the beach till sunset or was it the rain that stopped us?
Playing with sand, working together to building sand castle, sitting there to wait for the wave or running away from it, posing for camera and holding on to papa.
There were a big bunch of us: 5 adults with 7 children! Those were there: Rebecca, Chiam, Ruchelle, Roderick and Roydan; Evelyn, Leon, Alisha and Alison; Fon Mee, Calvin and Mervin.
Nexus Karambunai, 1 Jun 2008

I’ve used materials form Coconut ScrapShop May’s kit, plus Jenni Bowling journal tag, and Maya Road swirl stamp, and Paperwishes cardstock.

More for sketch challenge

Did another two layouts and turn them into a 2 page spread. I’ve talked about these photos here.

I’m glad that I have sketches to follow and challenge to join so that I can limit myself and do my layout. I was cracking my head to find the right paper which is enough to spread out for both pages. I ended up using different colour cardstock for the background (they are almost the same)

Journal: A 3 days business trip to Semporna gave me the opportunity to see lots of beautiful things; sea view from Seafest Hotel, the beautiful sunset, the world class diving site – Sipadan, resorts of Kapalai, Mabul and offshore hotel.Holding the new born sea-turtle is unforgetable. Definitely a trip to remember.21-25 May 2008.

I’ve used Paperwishes’ kit, Basic Grey letter stickers, Prima flowers and MM flower brads.

Sketch Challenge in SoCalScrap

Yup, done one layout for the challenge and I’ve posted it in their forum, wanna keep a record here to, so here goes:

Am using TLG after watching Narnia (DLF for Dear Little Friend), so I thought of using initials for my title. So, TLG means This Little Guy.

I’ve used 3 different photos from 3 different time and while little Mer is doing different things too. The slinted one is actually cying after a tantrum ‘cos I didn’t get his favourite food – Donut.

Jornal (hidden behind the photo):
This Little Guy
Cheeky most of the time; talkative when provoke; grumpy when sleepy or need attention; cuddlely when in good mood especially right before bedtime and seeing his 外婆; love to bye-bye whenever anyone is leaving the house; got a sweet mouth to greet anyone; jump, run and thraw things when angry; a brat who cling to mommy or 外婆. Definitely 外婆’s favourite little guy.

Jun 2008

外婆; means grandma from mother’s side.

SoCalScrap

Have been surfing around to look for challenges and new sketches and goodies! Yes! Goodies! Maybe a RAK (random act of kindness) somewhere and have bump into SoCalScrap again. Guess what I’ve found? A sketch challenge which they provide the sketches and all you need to do is to finish it by 10th June, ya.. maybe it is a bit late for me, but hey, I’ve just got some photos processed from my trip to Nexus. I’m sure gonna join their sketch challenge.

Another layout from Coconut ScrapShop May’s Kit

I’m just so happy that I was able to use yet another sketch provided from Coconut ScrapShop May’s kit. It is easy to follow the sketch, all I need to keep in mind is that I’ll not use any flower for my boy’s page and try to use as many things as possible from the kit. What’s my own is the yellow and brown cardstock.
Have inked the grungeboard embelishment of swirl, heard shape and the alphabets.

There, a simple layout and yet I love to see it.

Jornal: Cal discovered Mickey first and straight requested to take picture with Mickey.
The think is he went straight to the hat and made it look like he is wearing it.
– 30 Dec 2007 Hollywood Hotel, Hong Kong Disneyland.

LOs, tags and cards

Have had fun using the coconut scrap May kit. Now, after discovering how easy to use the grugeboard, I fell in love with it, especially the alpha, they are just so easy to ink and adhere with liquid glue. The size is just nice for my layout too. Another thing that I enjoyed using is the round scallop pattern paper and the beautiful swirl.

First LO is a scraplift (*or inspired by) from Grace’s Beyong Beauty.

It is just so nice that the orange cardstock is in the same colour with Mer’s shirt. I’ve double mat the photo with light blue pattern paper then orange cardstock (sneak from behind the round scallop pp *wink*). I chose the stripped PP instead of the red flower (seen from Grace’s LO) ‘cos I think it is more suitable for a boy’s LO. Have lightly ink the grugeboard letters and adhered as the title. Journal on the tag provided in the kit, then lastly adhere the ribbon (do you call that ribbon?) and buttons. Wuola!
Before this layout, I’d had fun using the grugeboard letter by just inking them in red ink. The layout is from Prima’s June sketch and I’ve used McD’s tag line – “I’m loving it”.

I’ve used a bright colour cardstock which matches McD’s shirt, and red buttons matches with his hair. I fill some of the white area underneath the photo with a border stamp using red ink.

Coming back to the Coconut scrap May kit, I’ve done another page by using the materials and one of the sketches provided in the kit.

The ribbon is just nice to bring out the colour of Cal’s hat and the green cardstock is just nice for the greens in the photo. As for the buttons and stars, they just balance out. The first circle is a coaster from S.E.I Granny’s Kitchen which I’ve painted with white acrylic paint. The other two circles are being traces on the PP and journal.

Love the luscious green and orange cardstock they included in the kit. I have had fun using the kit, thanks Jen.

As for the charity move in Scrap-inspire-crop, I’ve made 2 more tags and 2 cards. Gonna need to send them out today.

Upper two were tags.

scrapping stuff

Yay!! It finally came through my mail! I finally got my May kit from Coconut Scrap Shop. I’ve straight away email Jen about the good news – receiving the kit in good order.
I’ve got so many things to play with now, plus those that I haven’t finished exploring yet from Scrap-n-Crop. Now I’m in the lacking of photos! Yup, and also how am I going to tell my stories.

I wanted to a page about myself, but seems so hard to do, I just don’t know what to tell about myself and where to start. I’m actually hoping that there is a challenge somewhere that I can follow, maybe I’ll log back in to scrapbook.com and see what they are having now. It has been a long time that I didn’t log in to that site ever since I found out that there are some other online store that take international order.

I’m hoping that I can just walk into a scrapbook store right now and grab all those tools or pattern paper that I love. Sadly I can’t find one here.. *sigh*
But I do love online shopping *grin*

Another thing about me is that I always try to save those pretty pattern paper and try not to use them up in one layout, then once I’ve decided on that, I’ll get into dilemma on if I really should do that.. *sigh* I’m one big confusing scrapper.

4 the love of CARS

Yup, this is the title of a layout done two nights ago for little Cal. He just loves cars. And I just love combining all those different font or letter stickers on the layout. It is fun also to use those small photos with ready white border and I’ve done a car piecing all by myself! Yay!

Oh ya.. will the new Maya Road chip board stars that I got from Scrap-n-Crop, I just can’t wait any longer, so I’ve used 3 in my layout. One is being ink with red ink to make it pop a bit.

Jornaling:
“Cal loves cars, basically any strange new cars, he’ll love them and wants to sit on them. Just like what happened in The Avenue of Star in Hong Kong. Fortunately these mobile stores were not open for business yet, that he can sits on them and requested his photos to be taken. 25 April 2008”

Those mobiles are just so cute that Cal just can’t resist them, *LOL*

I’ve used American Craft stripe pattern paper (and the little start behind the chipboard) and letter thicker (for CARS), Basic Grey letter stickers (4 the, of), HOTP brad buddies (LOVE), making memories’ star brad, Maya Road chipboard and Jenni Bowlin’s journaling tag with Ali Edwards’ handwriting font free from CK.

What I’ve done so far

I managed to do 6 tags/cards last night for the charity move.

I’ve used my black cardstock as the base as it is steady and have used one piece of 12″x12″ pattern paper from HOTP Personal shopper monthly kit as the background. Then I’ve used up all my black/grey prima flowers which I can’t think of a place to put them in my LO. I’ve match them up with prima got flowers in white and grey, plus some felt flowers that I handcut. I have saved all these flowers for some girly layout but doesn’t seems to have any to use, so might as well use them here.

As for the wording, I’ve used hero arts clear stamp, which is so easy to use.

Hope to make some more tonight.

Tow LOs which are not for my two boys

Have done these two pages last weekend and have loaded them here, just couldn’t find the time to write about them, so here go, my overdue post.
1st one is for my two nieces. They are my two eldest nieces (now 19 and 17). These two pictures were taken at different time but were almost at the same age.
I’ve used lots of flowers for this LO since I hardly use them for my two boys.

This 2nd LO is for my dad, love seeing his laugh on these photos. I’ve used back the challenge in a magazine that says put the title on the photo, journal in between pattern paper and draw the border. This time I didn’t draw but stamp it.

On another thing, would like to get your attention on this charity move and I’m intended to join them:
SIC Charity Move – Sichuan Earthquake

“Scrap Inspire Create is organising a CHARITY MOVE to raise funds for victims of this disaster.

We are inviting scrappers all over to come and join together to create papercraft products such as cards, bookmarks, tags, picture frames, notebooks, etc.

All created products are to reach us by 10th June.
Sale of these products will be conducted by our Creative Crew member, Emily, at the school where she teaches. Her school often carries out charity events to raise funds for many good causes, hence, the ideal venue for this sale.
Funds raised will be donated to the Embassy of China, Brunei Darussalam who will be receiving it on behalf of the earthquake victims.

Products created can either be sent to Emily or Jasmin.

This move begins right away as we try to create as much items as possible.”

So, go ahead start creating now.
